A backup answers “can we get the file back?” Disaster recovery answers “can the business take orders on Monday if the server room is dead?” Those are different jobs. Our managed backups page is the first job. This page is the second.

Cove DRaaS is a premium add-on to the Cove backups many of our clients already have. Our secure data center hosts a clean recovery cloud. We plan which servers matter, keep the failover ready, and run the recovery with you. It does not stop ransomware. It is how you keep working after it.

What DRaaS is (in plain English)

Protected servers are copied into an isolated cloud as virtual machines that can be started if the real ones cannot. Failover is the switch: your people work against those cloud servers while we rebuild or clean the office. Failback is the switch home when it is safe.

That is not the same as waiting overnight for a full restore onto hardware you still have to buy, unbox, and configure after a fire or a flood.

Backups vs disaster recovery

• Backup — copies you can restore: a file, a mailbox, a machine. See managed backup for small business.
• DRaaS — those copies staged so critical workloads can run in a clean cloud while the site is down.
• You still need backups. DRaaS sits on top of Cove Data Protection. It does not replace it.

Who this is for

Hudson Valley shops that cannot be dark for days: offices with a line-of-business server, a warehouse system, or a clinic that has to see patients. You do not need a second data center in another county. You do need to know which two or three machines the business actually runs on.

If the only risk is “someone deleted a spreadsheet,” backups are enough. If the risk is “the building, the ransomware, or the host is gone,” that is this page.

Vendors like to say “minutes.” Recovery time depends on which machines you protected and how messy the outage is. We will not quote a fantasy RTO on a brochure. We will tell you what your list of servers implies.

Common questions

We already have backups. Why this?
Backups get data back. DRaaS gets the business on its feet while hardware or the building is not ready. Same Cove family. Different outcome.

Do we need a second office full of servers?
No. That is the point of DRaaS. Our secure data center hosts the recovery environment. You are not buying and dusting a spare SAN.

Does this replace cybersecurity?
No. EDR, MFA, and backups still matter. See layered security and EDR. DRaaS is what you do after the bad day anyway.

Will this lower our cyber insurance?
Insurers ask for documented, testable recovery. This is how you have an answer. We do not promise a cheaper premium.
